Things to do in Bageshwar
Pindari & Kafni Glaciers
Located in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand state these are the two most popular
treks. These treks can be best attended in months of March to June and September
to November. Both the treks start from Kathgodam. The uniqueness of Kafni is calm
and serenity combined with panoramic mountain views. Whereas en route Pindari there
are fascinating meadows, jumping waterfalls on the mountain slopes and chances of
viewing some incredible wildlife and birds of the mountains. Once you reach the
top the mind blowing views of the surrounding region will make you feel like dancing.
This Lake is situated at a great height of 5,029 meters at the base of Trishul peak
and Nanda Ghunti. It is popular as ‘Mystery Lake’
since human skeletons
and remains of horses from the Paleolithic age were found in the lake. It is magnificently
located between rock bordered glaciers. Being located on a great height remains
frozen throughout the year. During this trek one can mingle with villagers of pahari
culture. Views of lush green alpine meadows and crystal clear water of Bedni Kund
mesmerizes the trekkers. Trekkers should be well equipped with warm clothing and
other means of facing the unpredictable climate of this region.
